What is draft-legal racing?

Swim

The swim is the first leg of a triathlon. For many runners, the swim is the hardest part of triathlon. Fear not, we can work with you to help you develop your swim. Setting you up for a strong run off the bike!

For those already swimming! That is great, we encourage you to continue swimming with your team! We will help you understand the dynamics of open water training and how to prime your engine for success in triathlon.

We use above and below water video analysis to help you refine your stroke!

Coach Kim is a previous collegiate swimmer, past YMCA Head Swim Coach, private swim instructor and most recently served as Assistant Volunteer swim coach at Kenyon College. Additionally Coach Kim offers swim programming, as well as monthly practice sessions as a team.

Bike Skills

Bike handling skills are a must. Group training sessions are focused on core principles that give you the expertise you need to be successful in pack riding. Only road bikes are permitted in draft-legal events. If you are exploring triathlon, you may use any bike that you have during practice, with the understanding that a road bike will be required for draft-legal events.

Transition

Smooth is fast! Transitions should be quick and efficient. We teach elite transition skills to help you streamline each transition. Your swim to bike, or bike to the run, you’ll be faster after training with us.

Run

Many of our athletes participate with their HS Cross-Country and on their Track teams. We understand that high school participation is a valuable experience. As long as you are committed to cross-training, you are welcome to join our program. Many athletes find that they become stronger runners when cross training for triathlon.
